Last spring I asked Kevin Barrett to surprise me and bring a friend as a guest performer; a musician new to me and the St. Jude’s jazz vespers community. He did – he brought Alison Young. An inspired choice − we liked her very much. And because they make such great music together, I’ve invited them both to join Chris Banks, Tim Shia and me for the December 4th vespers. As the frantic season begins its demanding descent upon us, an hour spent in a space of undemanding tranquility will be good for body and soul. I hope you’ll be able to join us.
